Default Facebook Apologises After Banning Users For Posting/Sharing St. George's Day Flags

    Facebook apologises after banning users
for sharing St Georges Day flags on timelines

    25th April 2020

FACEBOOK today apologised after dozens of social media users had their accounts suspended after sharing pictures wishing people a happy St George's Day.

Brits were shocked after being banned from the social media platform completely or given temporary suspensions after posting a photo of the English flag.

An image stating 'proud to be English' has been taken off Facebook

Dozens of people have said they were affected, with one account suspended for 30 days

Many took to Twitter to voice their concerns, while other family and friends of recently banned members posted about their concerns on Facebook.

And Facebook today apologised for "any upset", saying: "Our team reviews millions of pages, posts and images each week and we occasionally make a mistake, as has likely happened here."

Just one furious woman blasted on social media: "My MOTHER got an email banning her and calling her racist from them for sharing that picture... on St George's Day.

"She's currently helping an elderly couple tidy their garden up so they can enjoy the weather."

Another wrote: "Facebook have been taking down St George's day posts and giving people bans. WHY!!!"

It appears that two images related to St George's Day were being taken down, one showing the St. George's flag, a red cross on a white field, crossing the White Dragon flag.

The words "Proud to be English" are then written next to the banners.

The second image shows the English flag with the words "Happy St George's Day".

A number of social media users said they had been banned from using Facebook Live for 30 days.

Others claimed their commenting abilities revoked after sharing the image.

One woman said her mother had been banned from Facebook for sharing the image

Some were banned completely while others were stopped from commenting

Many users said they were told the picture violated Facebook's community standards

It comes after Brits were urged to fly the English flag at home to mark St Georges Day rather than go out to celebrate amid the coronavirus crisis.

And on the day itself, Brits put flags outside their houses and even dressed up their pets in red and white.

But many were instead left upset after their social media posts were flagged.

One wrote: "I've received a warning and had my post removed from Facebook for posting this image!

"Am I a danger to the community for being English and proud on St George's Day?"

They shared a screenshot showing a caution that read: "Your post goes against our Community Standards on dangerous individuals and organisations."

Another said: "So my mum shared a post about St George's Day... saying she's proud to be English.

"Now she's on a Facebook ban by Facebook.

"How is being proud of your country going against regulations?"

A third said: "Facebook are punishing me for wishing everyone a Happy St George's Day."

A Facebook company spokesperson said: "Were investigating what happened. Our team reviews millions of pages, posts and images each week and we occasionally make a mistake, as has likely happened here.

"We have removed any restrictions placed on the impacted accounts.

"We apologise for any upset caused."

Facebook is beginning to realise that now that small competitors are coming up - their days might well be numbered.

And whilst Welsh, Scottish, and Irish people kindly wished the English a Happy St. George's Day many left-wing Labour MPs refused to acknowledge our national day... and only praised Ramadan instead.

Even some senior members of the Conservative government (such as the UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock) of the UK gave long public speeches wishing Muslims a happy Ramadan - but didn't bother to wish English people a Happy St. George's Day.

US Ambassador Johnson to the UK posted this nice message on St. George's Day: https://twitter.com/USAmbUK/status/1253229648546324480

Much of the anti Brexit and far-left MSM in the UK ignored St. George's Day and refused to even give it a mention, whilst giving much news coverage to the month-long Islamic holiday of Ramadan instead.

Once again, the English are made to feel ashamed of our national day.

This is true, it's unfortunate that Facebook is so big they usually acquire any of their competition before they become a threat. Here's to hoping that some of them will be able to hold out against that.

England is found to be the least patriotic nation in Europe with many people in England unaware of our national day, and many are afraid to fly our national flag for fear of being branded as 'racist' or having the police remove our flags. England is one of the least racist and most tolerant nations in Europe... and our Christian flag is not 'racist.'

Conservative London Mayoral Candidate Shaun Bailey (the main rival to Sadiq Khan in the 2021 London Mayoral Elections) also posted an English flag on St. George's Day: https://twitter.com/ShaunBaileyUK/st...40424405352449

I bet you a million USA dollars, not pounds, that if Scottish people posted Saint Andrew's flags with "proud to be Scottish" they would not have been banned. Don't blame the Scots though AFAIK the person who owns facebook is a Jew, not a Scotsman, named Mark Zuckerberg.

Sadly Shaun Bailey is heavily attacked by the left with racist comments made by left-wing Labour MPs towards him (like they also do to right-wing UK Home Secretary Priti Patel,) because he's a Brexiteer, and because he shared a tweet once branding Khan as the 'mad mullah of Londonstan', has spoken out against Islamisation and multiculturalism, etc. He's not racist because his English wife is white. He has a lot of support from Brexiteers.
You say that like it's a good thing.

but yeah. St. George wasn't even English, they know it's not racist Zuckerburg just likes trolling the chavs.
The Guanche skulls as a whole are unlike those of modern European Mediterraneans, and resemble northern European series most closely, especially those in which a brachycephalic element is present, as in Burgundian and Alemanni series.
divided them into clearly differentiated types, which include a Mediterranean, a Nordic, a "Guanche," and an Alpine. The "Guanche" accounts for 50 per cent of the whole on the four islands of Teneriffe, Gomera, Gran Canaria, and Hierro; the Nordic for 31 per cent, the Mediterranean for 13 per cent, and the Alpine

Chavs/chavettes?!? The left-wing MSM frequently tries to falsely portray millions and millions of Brexiteers as being 'low class racist gammon', 'stupid', 'deplorables,' 'xenophobic', and other perjorative terms. It's deliberate bullying and smear campaigns by the far left. The majority of us are not xenophobic or racist though... many of us are centre-right and are not 'far-right' as the MSM and far-left celebs and politicians often try to portray us as.

There's also many economic and democratic reasons why we voted for our freedom and independence from the EU. We see nothing wrong in wanting controlled immigration, wanting sensible immigration laws and not mass and unlimited immigration, and many are opposed to the intolerant and oppressive Islamic ideology in our culture, grooming gangs, sharia law, 'honour' killings, FGM, halal, burkas, etc.... and want tough sentencing for people who choose to commit heinous and horrific crimes. Many of us are tolerant of homosexuality, freedom of choice, etc... but draw the line at tolerating intolerance to our democratic culture by intolerant muslims and their Islamic ideology to kill all infidels.... or tolerating heinous crimes and terrorist attacks.

These are moderate (right wing liberal) views and not far-right.

People of all social classes (including Brexit Party politicians and ambassadors) posted St. George's Day flags to celebrate our national day.
