Amsterdam is multi-ethnic and population changed very much since the past. The first native people of Noord Holland were Frisians.
We have some ties with Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. Also were are Catholic, while Duch people above The 'Grote rivieren' belong to Calvinism (Protestantism).
Also, the main Gemanic ancestors of the Dutch (Holland) were the Batavi (Germanic tribe), while we had different Belgae ancestors (a mixture between the Germanic Franks (Nervii) and Celtic tribes such as Menapii)

Belgium is a FEDERATION between Walloons and Vlaamingen. Belgium is our country as long it is a federation.

The main difference between Dutch and Flemish was religion. Dutch were Calvinist and Flemish - Catholics. They were once of one ethnicity.
