    I meant Kosovska Mitrovica.

It was the area of responsibility of a brigade commanded by the French, but since we protected a Serbian enclave near Istok, we used to make many escorts of Serbs who went to that city to do administrative tasks or to receive medical care in its hospital.

    Spoiler!

Sorry for the bad quality, the cd with the original photos was very damaged and I only have scanned photos of those that I printed on paper or from traditional photographs on paper.

That was about 20 years ago...

You most likely came after the war. KFOR defended Serb villages from Albanian revenge attacks. Yet they claim they helped Albanians Just from staying in Kosovo after the war you had KFOR stationed in every Serb village.

During the war the Serbs bombed our house down , got a picture of our house right after the war but I am not home right now.

Yes, just after the real war.

I'm not going to comment too much on who started it all or who behaved worse. As far as I know, the two of them behaved like animals, which is what usually happens when those who face each other have lived together for a long time, as happened in the Spanish civil war and in so many conflicts. The two civilian populations always treated us well, although we dealt more with the Serbs. In our detachment the civilian workers were all Serbs, and practically all the young and not so young women had a knife mark on their neck, indicating that many (or all) of them had been raped.

We also had an interpreter (translator) who had been an officer in the Serbian army and he told us that he had bombarded Kosovar Albanian villages with mortars, and that he had coincided with the "arkan tigers" in our area, so I guess the Kosovar Albanian civilian population lived also very hard episodes.

They used to wear scarves around their necks or turtlenecks to hide the scar of their necks.

Other than that, any Serbian church, hermitage or graveyard that wasn't guarded day and night is totally destroyed.

I only experienced the pressure and fear of the Serbs, not that of the Kosovar Albanians, but I know it was similar.

So having nothing against the Kosovar Albanians, most of us used to defend the Serbian position, even though we belonged to NATO and our intervention had benefited the Kosovar Albanian side.

Well, switching to nicer topics. This morning I went to water a young fruit tree (it has hardly rained these last two months)and I checked how the ripening of the grapes is going:

Do you use groundwater for watering? My grandparents use it too, although they live in one of the driest places in Turkey it seems to be good water source, but I can’t say how damaging that is since every Turk use it. We don’t have this kind of grapes, only for leaves without fruits although my father planted some who give fruits but he said they aren’t ready yet.

I just had to water a young tree,so I just took 20 liters of water from a village fountain near my home.

I do not water the vines, they are over 80 years old and do not need to be watered because they have very deep roots.

I irrigate the vegetable garden, that is in a different place, with water from the river, which I put in 1,000-litre tanks in case it dries up completely in the summer.

For large-area commercial crops, there is a system of underground pipes and irrigation intakes scattered throughout the region that are fed by small reservoirs, but I have never used them.
