Regarding mountain biking: A long time ago a friend took me on some crazy, rough, steep trails, thought I was gonna die, never did it again. You are brave.

A decade or so ago, we built a decent treehouse for kids in our family and the killjoy neighbour compained to the council. They turned up and told us to rip it down as it is an unconsented building. My father and cousin are registered master builders and I'm a qualified boatbuilder and cabinetmaker. It was built for safety and to last.

Red-tape BS like that has ended many traditional father-son-family activities in NZ.

That is pathetic behavior from the neighbor, and pathetic of the council as well. If you were my neighbor, I would have celebrated the completion of the project by sitting with you in the new treehouse, having a beer.
