Or whoever allows them to and doesn't recognise their behaviours. Many people we assume to have NPD are usually on the spectrum because there is huge overlap. So they may not have a subconscious motive but are literally clueless with empathising and social interactions. Many "incels" have this personality disorder, such as Elliot Rodger etc which doesn't allow them to be successful in the dating world because part of it is not taking rejection personally and improving on flaws so they seek revenge.
It's not all bad. I think having some traits is a good thing, such as confidence and pride but the full blown disorder is often seen in abusers and sociopaths.

I think so many people our age fall somewhere on that spectrum, maybe even myself. There's no way habitual social media use would cause normal brain development. There has been a documented spike in NPD cases after year 2000 and it's huge.
Narcissists actually have lots of friends because they are very charming/likeable. Remember these are the people who can put on a front and tell anyone what they want to hear vs. people like myself who are genuine but can be boring/bland at times. But yeah I agree, if executed in a sloppy way NPD can actually be a disadvantage and people would run for the hills if they see you.

That's true, our generation have increased cases of NPD. Possibly due to social media and the data suggests environmental factors play a huge role.
I agree grandiose narcissists are usually charming and conniving but they are also not affected by criticism and even welcome it (Bad publicity is good publicity and all that) . It's the covert types that become a problem in society like in mass shooters and homicides. (It's a topic that really interests me as you can tell haha).

since i am no longer obese, i think i'm very average, so a 5/10? i am mostly plain, but have some positive traits (like nice hair) but some very negative ones (very asymmetrical eyes). i always felt my appearance was very neutral in my life, people usually don't find me remarkably pretty nor ugly.
