The Riga Tech University Open in Latvia was won by a pair of Armenian chess players: Robert Hovhannisyan and Manuel Petrosyan, each scoring 7.5 out of 9. Due to better tie-breaks, Hovhannisyan took the 1st prize.

260 chess players took part in the strongest A group of 8th international chess festival „Riga Technical University Open 2018” from August 6th to 12th.

Judoist Aram Grigoryan became winner and gold medalist of Open championship of Cup of Europe which was held in Minsk, Belarus on August 17-19

16-year-old Zoranik Madosyan won gold medal at Thai Boxing World Championship held in Bangkok, Thailand in early August. Athletes from 84 countries took part in Championship.

Professional poker player Dan Bilzerian has been registered in Armed Forces of Armenia on August 27, the military commissariat reported.





Also Dan and his brother Adam Bilzerian received an Armenian citizenship.
