American actor of Armenian origin David Hedison (Heditsian) passed away at 92.

David Hedison was known for his role as Captain Lee Crane in the sci-fi adventure television series 'Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea' and as scientist Andre Delambre in the science fiction-horror film "The Fly" (the highest grossing film of the year).

Also David Hedison appeared in two James Bond films, as Felix Leiter (an operative for the CIA and Bond's friend).

Assana Sarkissian died at age 98 in Rosario, Argentina. Turks had slaughtered entire her family in Diarbekir and only her mother and brother survived who in 1926 went from Marseille to Argentina.

Lucin Beredjiklian (Khatcherian), one of the last eyewitnesses of the Armenian Genocide died in Argentina at the age of 106. She was born in 1909 in the city of Aintap (now Gaziantep, Turkey).

Almost all her life Beredzhiklyan lived in the capital of Argentina Buenos Aires and was one of the active figures of the local Armenian community. “Better not to remember the Genocide. It’s impossible to sleep because of these memories,” Lusine Beredzhiklyan said in an interview to the Argentinean edition "Clarin" in 2015.

The opening of the 7th Pan-Armenian Summer Games held in Stepanakert

On 6 August, the grand opening of the 7th Pan-Armenian Summer Games was held in the Stepan Shahumyan Republican Stadium in Stepanakert, Artsakh.

This year the event has brought together about 5,000 Armenian athletes from 161 cities (35 countries) of the world. The largest delegation is from the Russian Federation, which includes 14 cities with 368 athletes. Three new states are participating this year - the United Arab Emirates, Iraq and the Czech Republic. At the 7 Pan-Armenian Summer Games, the largest delegation arrived from the United States compared to previous years - 318 representatives from 11 cities of the United States. From European countries, the largest number of delegates arrived from France - 178 athletes from 6 cities. From Australia, compared to previous Pan-Armenian Games, the largest number of delegates arrived - 86 participants.

Armen Barseghyan became a champion of Europe at the 2019 European Junior Chess Championship held in Slovakia. He scored 7,5 points out of 9 and took the first place.
