Inspired of two other threads i want to start one where we can ask and state the origins and meanings of turkish terms/words. Its known that due the history Turks included foreign word in their vocabulary. From pure Göktürk-Turkic, Oghuz Turkic to early Anatolian Turkish, Ottoman Turkish and nowdays Turkish or Turkey Turkic some things were chanced. The nowdays spoken isnt „invented“ like many western and fundementalists claim, it was always spoken by ethnic Turks in Balkan, Anatolia and many other parts of former Ottoman State. Although they are variations inside Turkish and there are terms which we can’t find in other languages, neither persian, arabic or turkic languages. Maybe some of you are interested in to this thread. I’ll start with bibi, what means aunt or „hala“ in turkish. Do someone know from which language it could come?
