    4:35: It's why the US holds on to American Samoa, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.

    5:18: Argentina makes the "continental shelf" argument as well when it comes to their claims on the Falklands. I actually consider it a little dubious in their case, Portugal's "continental shelf" isn't populated by anyone.

    8:24: I don't remember when that happened specifically because the country wasn't in my radar yet, but I do remember some years later arguing against the EU for those basic reasons.

    I can't finish this video. But it's interesting.

    The smaller maritime nations of the Western world need to work together in a way that allows us to harvest these resources without damaging pristine ecological environments. Singularly we have some of the largest EEZ's in the world so working together could be both lucrative and beneficial to us all.
