Phylogeny of Y-chromosome haplogroups and their frequencies (%) in Marsh Arab and Iraqi populations.

These are people currently residing in the former Sumerian places. The history records say Sumerians were totally wiped out by Akkadans and later by others. But the chances of one of the minor haplogroup like Q or R1a being the ancient ones which are present in the vicinity is high.

You are talking about the Sumerians from the Uruk period.

There were ancient Sumerians from the Northern Mesopotamia who predate the Uruk Sumerians by thousands of years.

Those ancient pre-Uruk Sumerians from the Ubaid/Samarra period are much more mysterious.

It has been said that also the Hurrians (ancestors of the Georgians) evolved from the Sumerians.
