Do Turks in Turkey use the word "ama" for "but/however" too? I heard it often of course but it's not what standardized turkish suggests.

Somebody knows if it's Persian or turkic origin? Or maybe something else?

Yes we use it too, i think it is probably Iranic(many terms which resemble to other words from IE languages are often of Persian origin) . During Ottoman times lakin(Arabic) was often used by higher class. But i am not sure.

    Arapçadır. (It's Arabic in origin)

Turkic or Persian origin for this word is impossible

    → Maltese: imma
    → Moroccan Arabic: أما‎ (ʾamma)
    → Azerbaijani: amma
    → Bashkir: әммә (ämmä)
    → Persian: اما‎ (ammâ)
    → Turkish: ama
    → Urdu: اما‎ (ammâ)

Biraz, yes. I know it sounds like i have no hobbies(lol) but since i had Latin lessons i am researching the etymological origins of words. So it seems Arabs only use lakin. Tadjiks and Turkmens use ama too, funnily Uzbeks use lakin, like South Asians. That is indeed very interesting, it seems they are still highly influenced by Chagatai, when i talk with some of them i noticed the biggest problem between them and us is that they still use huge amount of non-Turkic terms.

It's also used in Persian with the same meaning, but the word is originally from Arabic.

We also say "emme" like Bashkirs in Aegean dialect.
