    Default World One

Back in 1973 a group of MIT scientists together with other relevant academics created computer sustainability simulation program called "World One". The program instead calculated the end of civilization as we know it by 2040, given the trend at the time simulation was run, with first major effects being in 2020. More here.

I find it fascinating how mankind is complete scum and knowing the prediction of simulation they absolutely didn't change a single habit, a single thing to try to alter this.

Programs are only as good as the data you feed into it and make no mistake: this is entirely agenda-driven.

Wake up and smell the coffee.

Of course, it is data driven program. The Club of Rome founder Alexander King, one of the main protagonists behind the idea, said that the governments will lose control bit by bit to global corporations, and other things that are norm today. Remember that was in 1973. The creator of the program was Jay Wright Forrester. Check him up if you didn't heard of him. Also I believe the program is based on work known as The Limits to Growth, and if it is it should be reliable - but I found no evidence whether it is or isn't.

I am in many ways a green-minded person myself, but this was at a time when Ehrlich's The Population Bomb came out, and many of its most hysterical predictions about global famines and resource depletion just haven't come about.

Exactly. Remember how they also only talk about de-industrialising the West while, at the time, not mentioning the Eastern Block with its lignite and its lack of any environmental protections - and now also ignoring China. I call them "melons": green on the outside but RED on the inside. What they want is to de-industrialise and weaken the West and giving power to the communists.

Inasmuch as there may be any long-term benefit from the covid crisis at all, it'll be two things: (1) the nation-state has proven it can reassert itself and control its own borders after all (if it so wishes - compare and contrast New Zealand's response to the UK's) and (2) people are rightly becoming more sceptical about over-reliance on China and will demand more manufacturing either be returned to Western nations themselves or be shifted to other less dangerous and aggressive parts of the developing world.

Bottom line is on macroscopic level too few things had changed. Shift of production from West to East has nothing to do with preserving global sustainability, its just serving capitalism (cheaper production, larger profits).

By the way, one of the authors Jorgen Randers wrote a book "2052 : A Global Forecast for the Next Forty Years", with an accompanying website. There you can find the data he used for his updated prognosis and perhaps you can try to make your own (if you're interested). I'm thinking to read this book so I can develop my own forecasting model.
