I only use car...and in the future more so because of the viruses.

But everybody here knows that the main stations of Lisbon are :

Oriente: Porto/North, Faro/South and some northern Lisbon suburbs + the metro connection to the airport.

Sta. Apolonia: North, South and Spain/Europe.

The others are mostly just for suburban lines nowadays.

Coimbra is the line of the north, you can use both Oriente and Sta. Apolonia.

For Sintra is just a suburban line that starts at Rossio station right in the center of Lisbon. All the scum catches that line...so good luck with not getting robbed or assaulted.

I remember going to Porto rail station (when on holiday there) to see if I could get a train to visit some friends in La Coruna, and they were really infrequent and took several hours. Instead, I caught an Internorte coach to get there - although I initially boarded the wrong one as it was going to Paris! I realised something was wrong when we left 15 mins before schedule, and after asking for advice I got off at Braga and changed there for my actual coach.

Plans for the TGV line in Portugal + connection with Spain were aborted, they wouldn't be profitable according to the studies.

Shows once again how integrated the peninsula is (not). Barcelona now has multiple daily TGV trains to SW France and Paris, plus one or two go as far as Madrid too.

Yeah but the investment was to large for the demand, still the Alpha train has a good speed, not the TGV but goes at 220/230kmh. Any trip too long just take a plane.
