Yes. Pan-Europeanism is a nice fantasy. There is nothing evil in the nicknames.. it's more a playful thing but you're not entirely considered Dutch. Notice that someone from a different province also gets nicknamed.

Well as I have said before, I am a Remainer, but for practical and technocratic reasons (trade and diplomacy), not for romantic or esoteric ideals regarding European unity.

I think the EU's potential downfall is mainly due to (1) its over-expansion and (2) the single currency. Had the EU kept its pre-2004 borders (or even arguably pre-1983 borders?), and not had the subsequent mass internal transfer of people in one direction and subsidies in the other, I am not sure the British would have become so anti-EU.

I think it's both. I think the 1991 borders (but with Sweden, Austria and Finland still joining at a later date) were the best. It was stable back then and even a single currency would have worked. Not now. In general, the Dutch populace has also turned against the EU.. but even more so against their own government. First our own governments will have to swing, then the Espace Leopold will be burned to the ground. First things first: our own governments.

In Greece itself, do they regard children who are half-Greek, half-another Western ethnic group as being fully Greek or not?
