The Sasanian Empire (last Zoroastrian kingdom) had a queen, it makes me believe that they were too contaminated by the feminine scourge. Feminism is something that big empires that don't learn from the past practice right before a fall.
However, a tiny Zoroastrian minority still exists in Yazd. Shahnameh is also important to many modern Iranians, the Zoroastrian epic of Iran.
