Latinos; What are misconceptions that other people have about your country?

I agree with Alnortdelsur. The Italian imput in Argentina is very overrated. If I'm not mistaken, some member opened a thread asking why argentines don't speak Italian. The spaniards had been in Argentina since the XVI century. Indeed, italians left a huge impact in Argentina, but it's not as strong as the spanish influence.

And let's not forget that many Latinos think it's cool/chic to have non-Iberian heritage, so they could be inflating the Italian imput of places like Argentina, which is big, of course, but I don't think it's stronger than the Spanish, which were the main Euro element in colonial, and also immigrated in large numbers to that country in the post-colonial period, mainly Galicians.

When most Brazilians don't live favelas and our most populous region is far from the Amazon forest.

Like when they say we only eat platanos LMAO. For starters it's platano macho what we consumed a lot (not bananas) and we do it just as much as other Caribbeans. Never understood where that came from.

I suspect the Nuyoricans were the ones who started that silly stereotype and then some of the Dumbminicans abroad enforced with their payasadas. They are the ones who usually salen con eso anyways (the boricuas) because I don't see other Latinos mocking us with that no sense haha

The baseball stereotype also. Not all young Dominicans are into that sport. The most played one by the youngs in DR is actually basket in fact. Baseball is more played at a professional level and more heavily in the lower class of the southeast where most of our peloteros come from. It's the reason why on average they are also blacker than the general population.

That we speak Spanish, we are in South America, and we are part of Spain. And questions like "Why doesn't Spain take over that small country?"
