Photo of George Racey Jordan, from jamesperloff.com. According to the Wiki article about him, Jordan enlisted in the US Army Air Service and served during World War I. During World War II, Jordan returned to service in the US Army Air Force in 1942, with the rank of Captain. He was a Lend Lease control officer from 1942-1944. At some point, he began to keep notes about what he saw being shipped to the Soviet Union through Lend Lease. The YT video below includes an audio recording of a speech that Jordan gave in Los Angeles in 1963. Listeners might enjoy the dry sense of humor that Jordan employs during the speech.
