The Catalan shepherd (gos d'atura català in Catalan language) is a breed of dog typical of Catalonia. It is a sheepdog that is used above all to monitor herds during the day in the Pyrenees area and in the area occupied by transhumance related to this area. This dog is raised in Europe, especially in Spain, Finland, Germany and Sweden.

The origin of this breed of sheepdog is the same as that of the other herding dogs of the high European mountains. They come from the Asian dogs arrived in Europe with the invasions of eastern barbarians and scattered throughout Europe by the Romans. In this way it has as close relatives the Pyrenean Shepherd or the Bergamasco shepherd. Likewise, in sites such as those of Minferri, remains of dogs of similar size and structure have been found as early as the Neolithic period around 2000 BC. C. However, it is not possible to determine when it is that there is exactly what is now understood as a Catalan shepherd since there are only two-hundred-year-old drawings that testify to its existence.

According to oral family tradition E-FT155550 comes from a deserter of Napoleon's troops (1808-1813) who stayed in Spain and changed his surname.

    Ratonero Bodeguero Andaluz
    Andalusian wine-cellar rat-hunting dog
    bedeutet sinngemäß „Andalusischer Weinkeller-Rattenjäger

    https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ratone...eguero_andaluz

The Andalusian wine buzzard is a small Spanish breed of dog originating in Andalusia, especially in the province of Cádiz. Its name comes from the main function of this breed in the wineries of Marco de Jerez: hunting mice that hide between the barrels. The breed is recognized by the Royal Canine Society of Spain and the Ministry of Agriculture, but it is not yet recognized by the International Cynological Federation (FCI).

The origin of this breed is found in the terrier dogs of the English wine merchants who settled in the breeding area of Marco de Jerez (Jerez de la Frontera, Sanlúcar de Barrameda and El Puerto de Santa María) at the end of the 18th century and early XIX. These dogs (mostly smooth-haired fox terriers) were interbred with those used in the cellars and stables to eliminate rats and mice found there. The result was the obtaining of highly gifted dogs for hunting rodents and vermin, which were crossed with each other and which soon reached great homogeneity. The selected color was white, as this made it easier to distinguish the dogs within the usual darkness in the areas where they carried out their work.

The Racial Prototype of the Andalusian Bodeguero Ratonero was published in the Official State Gazette on August 13, 2014 through the Order of August 2, 2001, updating the annex to Royal Decree 558/2001, May 25, by the that regulates the official recognition of the Organizations and Associations of Purebred Dog Breeders.

The Finnish Kennel Club agreed in late 2012 for the breed to participate in events organized by it.
