I have known this fact for years so I share to update them

The sex of the Iberian wolf with dogs threatens its genetic purity

    https://www.publico.es/ciencias/sexo...co-perros.html

The largest genetic study in the species detects 4% of hybrids // Experts call for its immediate eradication

The largest genetic study carried out to date in this species has found that 4% of the specimens analyzed are hybrids, children of dogs and wolves. Dog sex threatens to dilute the genes of this iconic species in the long run. Scientists have studied 208 Iberian wolves. Eight of them, in fact, are hybrids, coming from Asturias, Salamanca, Lugo and Minho (Portugal). The phenomenon is relatively rare, but it extends along the edges of the species' range.

Most of the samples have been taken from dead animals and described as wolves because of their appearance. If the corpses looked like dogs, they were not taken.

The mixtures have been seen in Asturias, Salamanca, Lugo and Minho (Portugal)

New genetic methods have allowed the detection of dog and wolf hybrids for the first time in Spain. Previous studies found no trace, because they looked at mitochondrial DNA, which is passed from mother to child. As the crossings apparently occur only between male and wolf dogs, no genetic fingerprint was detected in the offspring. The new study, however, has focused on the male Y chromosome.

"Under current conditions, there is no impact of hybridization on the population that justifies thinking that the Iberian wolf will have a change in its genetic characteristics," reassures Godinho, who urges the Spanish and Portuguese administrations to "take some conservation measures to prevent it from happening. " The solution, they propose, is "sterilization or eradication" of wolves mixed with dogs. "We believe that the hybridization values are relevant enough to be subject to management measures," says Godinho.

    Alano español
    L'Alano espagnol
    Spanish Alano

The Spanish Alano is a breed of prey dog. Its size is medium and it is considered as a native breed of Spain. Its origins are very old.

Being a hunting dog, it tends to be restless with everything that moves around it, but far from what it may seem, it is a calm, noble dog, faithful to its owner, brave and confident.

Light dam and runner molosser. The traditional functionality is the handling of brave and semi-brave cattle, with an Iberian log, on an extensive basis, as well as big game, as a tooth dog to hold deer and wild boars. Its modern application is for guarding and defense, as well as for guarding livestock against any type of predator.

    Dogo español
    Spanish Dogo

The Spanish Bulldog is a rare breed of dog in recovery. It is closely related to the Spanish Alano, but it is larger. The Spanish Bulldog is recognized by the National Canine Association and consequently by the Alianz Canine Worldwide.

Currently we find the most important population centers of it in Spain (especially in the south of the country, in the region of Andalusia) and Norway. Spain has the Club of reference for the breed and the most important worldwide. Its name is C.N.D.E (Club Nacional del Dogo Español) and its headquarters are in the province of Seville, specifically in the town of Utrera. This Club was founded in 2014 by the forerunners of the breed, who had been working on its recovery for many years.

Sweet and friendly with the family. Tireless and multifaceted worker. Very attentive and specially equipped for the guard, defense, handling and control of cattle. Easy to use and educate. He is very sure of himself.

Molous type, moderately brevilinear, very strong, rustic and endowed with tremendous power. Straight and compact back. It presents a remarkable sexual dimorphism, showing the males a more developed cranial region and with a more marked type. Medium to large in size, brachycephalic, as a whole it has a robust, compact and powerful structure.

    PODENCO
    Warren Hound

    https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Podenco

A type of hunting dog of ancient origins is called a hound. There are several breeds today throughout the Mediterranean: it is believed that the origin of these modern breeds is in Ancient Egypt (specifically the Tesem breed) and that dogs were spread along the Mediterranean coast by the Phoenicians. Its appearance is slightly reminiscent of a jackal or the image of the Egyptian god Anubis.

Various genetic studies carried out in recent years have concluded that, contrary to the widespread belief that the hound is a type of primitive dog imported some 3,000 years ago from the Middle East area, these dogs actually have a close genetic relationship with the rest of the European hunting dogs and they are not more "primitive" than most of them

(The German version omits this information )

It is one of the most empathetic races in existence, from there that unconditional fidelity for his family is born. He is extremely sensitive to moods, he will know how you are at all times and he will try to show you whenever you have his support.

Some of the most popular varieties

    PODENCO ANDALUZ
    Andalusian Hound

    https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Podenco_andaluz

The Andalusian Podenco is a breed of dog originating in Spain, specifically in Andalusia. They are dogs similar to other Iberian breeds such as Podenco Ibicenco, Podengo Português, Podenco Canario, Maneto and Podenco Orito Español. In the Iberian peninsula there are cave paintings representing dogs that bear a great resemblance to these breeds. In fact, it appears that very similar dogs have been bred in much of the Mediterranean basin since very ancient times, including the Cirneco dell'Etna and the Pharaoh Hound. However, there is also a tradition that podencos were introduced to the Peninsula by the Phoenicians through their colonies.

Various genetic studies carried out in recent years have come to the conclusion that contrary to the widespread belief that the hound is a type of primitive dog imported some 3,000 years ago from the Middle East area, these dogs actually have a close genetic relationship with the other European hunting dogs and are not more "primitive" than most of them but the only breed in the world that has altered its DNA less than that of the wolf referring to its primitive instincts as ability to live wild or immune to various diseases that is why the Andalusian hound is not considered primitive by crosses but by innate instincts it would be the only breed of dog that coexists with man that is capable of adapting to the natural environment with ease

As in the Portuguese Podenco, in the Andalusian Podenco three sizes and three types of hair are distinguished, factors whose combination can originate up to nine different varieties. Taking into account the size, the varieties are:

    Large Andalusian Hound
    Medium Andalusian Hound
    Andalusian Hound boy
If we consider the different types of hair, we have the following varieties:

Andalusian hound with sardinian or hard hair.
Andalusian hound with sedentary or long hair.
Andalusian hound with smooth or short hair.
There is a variety derived from the medium short-haired Andalusian Podenco, which is called Maneto, due to its short and robust legs, a phenomenon known in the field of cynology as bassetismo, in allusion to Bassets. Currently the Maneto is provisionally accepted as a breed by the RSCE.

    PODENCO IBICENCO
    Ibizan Hounds

    https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Podenco_ibicenco

It has highly developed senses of sight and hearing, which is why it has been hunted, especially the rabbit, both day and night.

Ibizan Hounds are moderately intelligent, active and naturally attractive. They are true "clowns" of the dog world, delighting in their entertaining people with their antics. Although a bit independent and stubborn at times, they do cope well, if the methods are positive, but they resist the punishment training methods. They are generally calm. They are sensitive dogs and very good with children and with other dogs. They are generally good house dogs, but they are active and athletic, so they need a lot of daily exercise. They are not good kennel dogs.

    PODENCO CANARIO
    Canary Hound

    https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Podenco_canario

It measures between 53 and 64 cm up to the withers. It is a slightly elongated dog with a lot of muscle

It is an animal that does not normally show aggressiveness, extremely faithful and noble for its companion, restless, independent, stubborn, hard-working and intelligent.

He lacks guard and defense attitudes, since in his own home he is "friend of all strangers". It is a good companion animal, adaptable to any environment. Every day it is more common to see him in the city for his calm and calm character at home, and his strong charisma and agility in parks and play areas. If he is raised in a home, once the first twelve months of hyperactive life are over, he shows himself as a somewhat calmer animal, an attitude that changes dramatically once he goes out into the field.

Given the hunting qualities of this dog: its sense of smell, its hearing and its vision, as well as its great speed in the race after the prey, the hunters have used it in hunting. If they adopt a Podenco from the pound it can give them the false impression of being fearful, but it should not be thought that it is due to the possibility of abuse or neglect, in fact it is the podenco's own character, he is not fearful but elusive and suspicious.

This behavior also occurs in specimens very well cared for by their owners.
