Isn't the Russian expansion into the Caucasus one of the main reasons it also became predominantly Muslim?

In Western Caucasus the Caucasian war strengthened Islam greatly. It became the consolidating power against Russian empire. On the other hand Christianity became the religion of the bitter enemy. I've read that even during the Caucasian war the Circassian tribe of Shapsugh had an inner Christian-Muslim conflicts.

Btw, the Abkhaz still have a mixture of Islam, Christianity and Native believes.

They still have this stupid cult for Stalin. Also because of Russia's demographic crisis (which in my opinion will end when the church bans abortion) there has been a need for immigration from the central Asian Republics, but a large part of this is also Russians who were settled there in the time of the USSR. But this assertion that Putin is cucked for lending to the Muslims the Eid festival is stupid. Muslims have been a national security threat to Russia for a long time. A book I recently read called Devil's Game which basically asserted that Islamism in Russia, Uzbekistan, and all those other places was explicitly created by the Pentagon in order to attack the "soft underbelly" of the USSR in 1980s. Islamism has never been an organic movement, and is a proxy of the west. Russia has to lend something to these people, because they will switch their support from the Russian government to the west or Georgia.

What facts were forgotten exactly? Those Muslims you're talking about were living where they are now since times of Golden Horde. Actually they have lived there long before but weren't all Muslims back then. These people are part of Russia for quite few centuries and most had proven their loyalty to common cause by shedding their blood alongside Orthodox Russians. Russians know these people well, know how to deal with them in mutually beneficial ways.

Compare it to the West where every single Muslim is culturally alien recent migrant (3rd generation tops) and the scale of migration seems to look more and more like invasion. What's worse is Western politicians seems to have no idea how to deal with problems caused by cultural tensions. From Russian perspective the stupidity of it all is quite amuzing.

There's a Russian saying about opinions like yours. It says: everything that is grey is a wolf for you.

You can't get the simple idea that Russia is multiethnic by design while Germany not at all (except Sorbs).

And as the post Socialits part of Germany is the least welcoming to the modern foregn invasion, you probably have something more urgent to worry about than Soviet Union.

Russia should have never colonised North Caucasus though, they have nothing to do with these lands and I know there are plenty of Russians who would like to let these go.

Russia cannot separate North Caucasus and grant them independence, it might be good for Russia but in independent North Caucasus there will begin a complete mess. The peoples living there have so much hatred and complaints against each other, that quite possibly there may begin a war of all against all and a total bloodbath.

Sometimes wars are ''needed''? I suspect we don't have many ex. Yugoslavinas here (not sure about Serbs?) who would like to return on that bigger form of nation ... no matter of painful war (1990's) Balkan.

Let us not forget that the war in Yugoslavia was not stopped by the Yugoslavs themselves, but by external powerful players. And where is the guarantee that in the region of North Caucasus someone will be interested in stopping the war and it will not turn into an eternal war and a total mess?
