58% SSA would be more like the average for our blackest region which is the East. The rest of the country pretty much is in the balanced range with the Cibao (our most populated region) being Terceron on average and the capital balanced mulatto. Average island Dominican must be somewhere between 37%-41%. In the USA is the same.
but have you tried this 23andme tool? it constantly gives high SSA to dominicans

According to what i have seen in gedmatch/23andme uruguayans are mostly european/native american mix and then after that you have a minority of individuals with high SSA

So if this 23andme sample is higly euro its not crazy that the SSA is low.

Yes, that's correct. If anything, they are probably trying to better represent the amount of SSA admixture among the average citizens of these Latin American countries. The average caucasian percentage is often over-estimated in Latin America's 23andMe samples, and as you mentioned, black admixtures are probably less represented among test-buyers. A prediction model would then take those factors into account.

For instance, among my Venezuelan matches, the average mix is close to 70% caucasian, 25% Native American, and just 5% SSA. This prediction model puts Venezuelan averages close to 62% caucasian, 21% Native American and 15% SSA, which I consider to be similar to admixture studies and better represent the phenotypes seen in Venezuela's population as a whole.

It also gives pretty high SSA to Puerto Ricans. I’ve done it a few times and it usually gives a result around 50% Euro but most of the PRs I share with on 23andMe are 60-70% euro and so are the PRs from the study 23andMe released a few years ago of Latinos who had tested with them. I wonder what explains the difference?

im doing averages per country based on 7 predictions per country.

Results are being pretty reasonable. Will post it in a different therad when i finish.

23andme results have changed a lot since 2010-2015 so its not rare to have different results than that study you are posting tbh. That study was done a long time ago.

If you run 7 predictions per country and make an average, the result are pretty acurate. At least i am doing that for latin american conutries and results are acurate and similar to what you would expect.

Only puerto rico and dominican republic are ending too SSA but the rest seem fine

    Its a pretty good tool
