Default Dominicans from the Eastern Provinces

The Dominicans from the East represent approximately 12% of the country's population. This is the most SSA region in the DR and the one with the most tourist spots. It's also the main exporter of baseball players.

In the last study made by the National Geographic the region came out about 57% African (including North African).

This area received a lot of anglo-Caribbeans and then a wave of Haitian sugarcane cutters in the last century (plus the latter wave in recent days). So you will definitely find a lot of fully SSA types there. In places like Monte Plata there are pockets of pred/nearly fully blacks but these are of colonial stock. In Samana a lot of African Americans settled at some point. That province also has a lot of fully SSAs.

Yes, the region is more diverse than most people would assume. I am telling you because I grew up here. The Dominicans from the rest of the country stereotype us as cocolos (fully SSA) LMAO. I said "us" because although I am from Espaillat I also identify as romanense hahaha
