Why are soccer fans so hardcore but the players are such sissies?

If you compare "soccer" to American "football" you are bound to see them as sissies, American footballers are basically steroids running around with the license to beat each other. If you mean otherwise please explain.

Cause its a sports based on skill and tactics not about physical strength. Any brawl will result in a red card rightfully so.

On the field football players are 'sissies' because it rewards them. Why stand up after you get tackled if you can possibly win a penalty kick? The football federations that tolerate this sort of behaviour are the problem. That's why, for example, Scottish football is more rough. The Scottish football federation, and by extension their referees allow more physicality.
