Majungasaurus was a medium-sized theropod that measured 19.7–23.0 ft and weighed 2,400 lb, although some specimens may have been bigger than previous estimates.

New research supports Majungasaurus having a respiratory system similar to birds given the presence of holes or pneumatic foramina in the bones, supporting it having avian-like lungs and air sacs as seen in living birds.
