IMHO: Christmas trees of today are left overs of ancient Gemanic pagan traditions of worshipping 'Irminsul' trees.

Nothing new here. This is already accepted by everybody. Pine trees don't grow in Bethlehem.

But the concept of the 'tree of life' is originally from the Sumerian Mesopotamia.
