Yes, sure it is. I speak both Russian and Serbo-Croatian. But to me this does not prove the point that Russian is a ripoff of South Slavic languages. Imo Old Church Slavonic might be the closest to proto Slavic. The Slavic language branches independently evolved into different directions. Some of these stayed closer to proto Slavic in certain aspects than others. But none of them is a rip off of another Slavic language branch. I think Mingle in a prior post gave a few good hints on how they differ.
