Most likely Slovak, there is also artifical language called interslavic that should be understood by all Slavs in level to understand the context of statements

Nope, very little Bulgarian and Slovenian sounds most alien as a language for me.

And yes, to answer the op, Slovak is imo modt versatile language, I would have no problems learning any Slavic language besides Bulgarian or Slovenian.

Only separate words. West Slavic languages are not inteligible to Bulgarians.

The most understandable without doubt is Russian, every Slav over the age of 40 understands and speaks it.

From my point of view as a West Slav and native Pole:
    1. I am able to understand Slovak and Czech in 70% with option to increase to 85% after a few social beers
    2. I understand Russian in 85% without a social drink due to I learned Russian as a third language, but it doesn't mean I shouldn't try how a social drink (Polish or Russian vodka) can be effective in a process of understanging Russian in 90%
    3. Thanks to knowing Russian in 85% I have a possibility to understand better South Slavic languages + I took 6 month proffesional Serbian language course, so I think I am able to understand South Slavs in 75% (without rakija)
    4. Sorry Bulgarians, but with all above mentioned efforts I can understand you in max 50%

    kupa

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kupa

sometimes it sounds weird, because for example usually kupa means shit in polish, but also has many other meanings:

    heap

    pile

    bunch

    dollop

    oodles

    mouthful

    stack

    lump

    huddle

    mob

    pack

    collection

but when you type that word on google:
