All Australoids whether Melanesian,Aboriginal,Negritos,or Veddoids do indeed cluster closest to East Eurasians.Whether this is because of long periods of interactions or an actual common Ancestry is still up for debate.I have seen Australoids included in Eastern non Africans before.

Portuguese\Timorense mestiços do exist but they are a minority, usually found among the educated upper class. Most prominent presidents of Timor-Leste have always been half-Portuguese.

    Xanana Gusmăo

    José Ramos-Horta

For reference, this is what people from Timor usually look like (very similar to Indonesians):

    YDNA: R1b-L21 > DF13 > S1051 > FGC17906 > FGC17907 > FGC17866

For reference, this is what people from Timor usually look like (very similar to Indonesians):

Timorese are more diverse than that picture man. Some tribes are more Austronesian like your picture, while others especially in the mountains are more Papuan. They even still have Papuan languages in Timor Leste. This is the same situation as in Eastern Indonesia, where people from Mountainous areas and isolated islands like Kei,Aru,or Seram are almost pure Melanesian while those from the cities like Ambon have alot more Indonesian transmigrations from the much more populated islands of Java and Bali. Btw,I went to Indonesia just last year to Jakarta,Makassar City, and also Ambon in the East. The local people in each island look different.Especially when you go to the far East and the rural areas. There isnt a magical line between "Papua" and then "Indonesia",the entire Eastern part of the country is a blending point

    https://imgur.com/a/XjwR8jU

"Indonesians" themselves dont even look similar to each other.People from Papua or Sumba definitely dont resemble people from Java or Bali or Sumatra on average, the people who are wrongly said to represent "all Indonesians".They just make up far more of the population.

Also look at the original DNA results, she actually has more Melanesian ancestry than Austronesian ancestry!

Also about your picture to represent "Timorese",I showed it to a West Papuan,a Moluccan, and the original Timorese girl in question and all of them said they are atypical. Most Timorese are more Melanesian looking than that,or more admixed looking, and on average are quite distinct looking from the mainstream Javanese "Indonesian" look.

Timor Leste is very similar to all the other Iberian ruled places where they made the Iberians at the top of the social ladder and the locals at the bottom, and then put the Mestizos somewhere in between. So even today the upper class and Politicians in these former Iberian areas Mestizos make up a disproportionate percentage of important positions.

I don't how this system works in the 21st century. It seems very dysfunctional. Is'nt there free education for everyone nowadays?
