^ For their ideals ? For this country to be absorbed in the land of the occupiers. They didn't have any ideals: they turned the guns on their own countrymen and robbed them of what little food they had during the famine of 1944-45.

As for the NSB itself: led by a man who committed bloedschande with his own aunt and who later on also couldn't keep his hands of his little niece. That's the kind of man he was. A party of mostly dregs, rejects and losers who felt oh so powerful when the Nazi's invaded this country. A group of people who aided the invaders by attacking our own soldiers in the back, handing over uniforms and fake documents, vital bridges and communication points while troops and officers who had aligned with them had cleared the ammunition boxes of bullets and replaced them with sand so our troops had nothing to fight with.
They were anything as bad as the commies: they were a disgusting fifth column and it is a show of our civilisation and high morality, that we didn't drag out every single last one of them and marched them off to the nearest brick wall to be shot. Because they would have absolutely deserved every last bullet. A man who betrays his own people to invaders has no ideals and no moral compass to speak off so don't talk about "them fighting for their ideals".

But we live in democracy, the one that won in 1945.
The problems in Europe (Birth rate, unemployment, immigration...) are due to the victors of 1945.

Bullshit. They are due to the Nazi's making any form of patriottism seem suspect. We didn't have any of those problems before WWII. What the Nazi's made possible was for the commies to advance well into Europe and also seize control over the establishment here because they had been a "resistance party" who had sided against the occupiers. None of this would have happened without the Nazi's.

We can safely say that the experience forms a watershed in Dutch history as the institutions that protected Dutch traditions and identity were wiped out overnight BY THE NAZI'S - not by the commies, not by the Jews or the Allies but by the Nazi's as they themselves were very much against power sharing and the Dutch traditions of pillarisation and sphere sovereignty (because they wanted to absorb us into the Reich). So they wiped them out with a policy of centralisation. The Army and Navy which had protected our colonial realm and made sure that those living there didn't get any strange ideas when it came to the Dutch living there.. were wiped out in 5 days (and slightly longer when the Japanese destroyed the rest). , our political system which had kept out the commies and the socialists through cordon sanitaire, was demolished and the Dutch civil service placed under Nazi Verwalters.
After the war, the people noted that the old system no longer worked and the embraced doorbraakpartijen (breakthrough parties - as they were called) on the center-Left which were based on parties which had only been marginal before the war: such as the social-democrats and the liberals. Why those ? Because, with the commies, they had been at the head of the Dutch resistance. Not the old order.
And let us not forget that the Nazi's supported "anti colonialist" groups in India and the Middle East against the British and worked with the Japanese who wanted to demolish Europe's colonial realms so they could build their own on its bones.
