Default What do you think of affirmative action?

Here in Australia we have some affirmative action for women, Aboriginals and Torres Strait islanders. Some other countries with affirmative action include America and India.

In America both the government and some private organisations have programs granting special consideration to groups considered to have been historically discriminated against, particularly racial minorities and women. This has sparked some controversy after some American colleges/universities used to have a quota on the enrolment Asian students because they had to get much higher scores to enrol in the same course as students, particularly compared to those of Latin America and African American heritage. Affirmative action since last year has been removed from college admissions in America for that very reason.

India has one the longest running and most complex affirmative action program in history since 1902, a system of reservation in government representation for ‘low caste’ Hindus, women and many other groups in Indian society deemed underprivileged. Some argue it has instilled the caste system rather than working to destroy it and some people advocate to have castes reclassified, so they can benefit from affirmative action.

Depends. If it's handing money for free or let people pass exams just because I'm against.

    How about government representation?

In Australia we had a referendum last year to decide whether we should allow Aboriginals to have a reserved voice in Australian parliament, 60% voted no so it didn’t happen.

It was justified in the USA when there was genuine anti-Black systemic racism, not the fantasy kind in 2024. Don't mend it; end it, and you can kick DEI to the curb, like the anti-White trash that it is, too.
