Militias are civilian paramilitary organizations and units, they all have their own structures. Usually they vote on a commander. They have no connection to the state or federal governments.

Ok so things can turn very easy into a blood bath.

They should be within in their full legal rights to shoot people that try to destroy or enter their properties or steal from them. Unfortunately in the UK we have no such luxury and during a riot on this scale over here we'd be defenceless. Even our police aren't typically allowed to shoot criminals, there have only been 3 shootings within the last year and all were against Islamic terrorists. We somewhat realised our mistake after the 2017 London Bridge terrorist attack where 4 police armed with only batons were maimed by knives.
