Auschwitz museum struggling for funds under lockdown

The Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum was forced to launch an appeal for funding on Wednesday after two months under a coronavirus lockdown that saw revenue from visitors dry up.

The site of Nazi Germany's most notorious death camp normally draws more than two million visitors from across the globe each year.

"We are calling for financial assistance from all those who consider it necessary to preserve memory," the museum said in a statement published on its official website.

"The 2020 budget has collapsed," it said, despite "special support" from the Polish culture ministry and the Auschwitz-Birkenau International Foundation, which will help maintain jobs and continue maintenance work to preserve the site.

Even the most famous natural history museums that I adore in the west are also suffering as well since most people are locked up in their homes and so on.

Our politicians should give dotations, museum is located in Poland and it's in interest of Poland to keep this place. Our politicians like to brag this place, isn't it?
Nobody ordered us to create there museum. It could just turn into ruin. Poles made there a museum, not Germans or Jews.
Also it is on UNESCO list so it seems strage that they still are struggling.

Nope, I just want our politicians to fund it, if it's so important for our history.

More than we should. I mean: hell.. if our money would go to proper housing (we have a housing shortage), good healthcare (yeah.. where did that go ?!) and a proper welfare state (yeah.. where did that money go ?), I would sort of understand it but now.. hell no.

I highly doubt that money can solve housing problem.
We simply have 3 options, yay?

1-Occupying agricultural land- So we're not making enough cheese anymore
2-Building 20-story "turkish style" apertments- So we're losing our tiny sunlight
3-Draining wadden even more- So we're starting and endless war with conservationists.

So how to do it? Do you have a proper idea?
