Finns and Russians would actually come pretty ok together (I think) ... it is nations political history which makes that relationship bit ''challanger''. Not individual persons.

The Chuvash population is the fifth indigenous people of Russia. 1.5 million Chuvash is not a little. It’s more than Estonians, Latvians, Montenegrins, for example.

How many of those nominally Chuvash speak the language every day and live their own culture? I suppose many of them have just become Russians by now because of massive russification.

Personally I feel much closer to Baltic peoples: Estonians, Finns, Latvians and Lithuanians than any Balkanite. A Serbian stranger would be mistaken for someone from Caucasus. The only reason that Russians and Serbs make close to each other is the Slavic language family and orthodoxy religion, nothing else. Today Russians are mostly agnostics like myself. I do not like Marx's ideology, but I agree with his "religion is the opium of the people".
