I love guns. Shooting has been a hobby of mine as well a professional requirement all my adult life. Funny thing is, my family are not "gun people" so I never grew up around guns.
I started with shooting .22 rifles in the Boy Scouts then went into the Marine Corps where I got to play with all types of things that go bang. Hobby wise, I started with handguns. I liked the military style 1911 pattern .45's and the Browning Hi Power in 9mm. I moved into Glocks and Sig Sauers later. I have pretty much owned a handgun from all the quality manufacturers. But Sigs are my favorites currently.
In rifles I like the AR-15 platform. I have had AK's and others, but the AR series fits me best. I also have a collection of military surplus bolt action rifles. I love those for the history they bring.
I am no longer military and am not a cop so I no longer am professionally required to maintain firearm proficiency, but I do so anyway. I carry a concealed handgun legally in my state and participate in various shooting sports.
As a citizen of the U.S. I am guaranteed the right to bear arms and I feel that a right not exercised is a right lost. The right to bear arms is what seperates the citizens from the subjects and I will not be a subject.
