The best "Chicano" accent is what you hear among old timers and more rural people around Corpus Christi and Kingsville to Houston, its a blend of "border" Tejano and U.S. southern. When you hear it, I guarantee you are listening to a very hard working, patriotic person who is a million miles away from what some people on the right AND the left imagine "Hispanics" to be. (Most people outside some cities don't use "Chicano" much any more).

I can't think of too many celebrities who had the accent...maybe Selena when speaking English. You hear it from many Tejano singers when they speak in English.

This is 1/2 of my wife’s heritage. I have heard and know what you mean- those older Tejano men in their hats and snakeskin boots, speaking Tex-Mex with a twang.

Chicano English is a bit more pleasant to my ears.
