Do westerners respect russians and serbs?

I'm not trolling them they probably consider me just a gypsy though but I have impression that subtle westerners consider me russian or similar to a russian maybe because I'm orthodox if you want I can give examples why I have the impression for example I talked to a nurse about immigration and she said that it is good that austria is rich and I said yes I'm a grateful immigrant it is hard to live in the third world and she said not only there but also in Russia and looked at me then one asked me what orthodox believe and one other quick said that is Russian and the first guy said ok Russian maybe I'm wrong though

While there is evidence that Russia and Serbia seem more prone than most of Europe to despotism and corruption, at the same time I will admit that prejudice and hatred of those countries (or perhaps more specifically, their governments) brings out the worst on both the Left and Right in the West. In the Left's case, they resent the fact that those countries are still relative bastions of social and religious conservatism, and thus condemn them in an often hysterical and hypocritical manner. (Why is Russia's "non-promotion of homosexuality" law such an outrage, but not the far more vicious persecutions of gays in Nigeria, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Yemen, Pakistan or India?) In the Right's case, they still want to have a common enemy against whom we can rally around and want to recreate the Cold War in order to build 'unity' and 'order'.

I know that the russians and serbs would call me gypsy though and I do not look like a serb or Russian though. But it is not my fault that some treated me russian like. They were not russians though or serbs. In serbia I was discriminated for being a gypsy, and I would get discriminated in russia too.

You look more like gypsy than Serb, so probably that's why. Not all gypsies are very dark and Indian looking, but you surely know that.

In America I think a lot of people don't really think about Russians at all, most people just work and try to make a living and only care about politics a week before elections.

There are quite a few Pro-Russian in France, it's linked also to the fact that our countries have strong cultural and historical ties.

I doubt most Americans can tell the two nationalities apart, honestly. There is an abundance of anti-Russian sentiment coming from the media and Democrat patsies for certain, although I think the average person just defaults to stereotypes from the early 90's, still, if they think about folks from that corner of the world at all. The anti-Russian saber-rattling is a sort of boomer dogwhistle, I think it means very little to people from my generation, fortunately. I definitely wish that the consensus assumptions of eastern Europe were less homogenous, as I find both of those countries to be admirable and full of worthwhile cultural and historical customs and art to explore and study. The specter of socialism is something that has taken precedence over the unique distinctions that exist between the countries in the Balkans and other parts of eastern Europe, and I really consider that to be a damning reflection of how American hegemony and superstitions have shaped the way that the average person views international affairs.

The orthodox countries are part of the wog realm along with Mediteranean and West Asian countries because
they have their own distinct customs,cultural habits and traditions which look foreign or exotic to Westerners.
