    Yes, I think if you're going to emigrate to another country you have an obligation to learn the language. It's very disrespectful not to.

    I would never move to a Spanish-speaking country though.

    In Spain, yes, I would have to learn Spanish.

    Can't imaging going to other Spanish-speaking countries though, like Mexico, Venezuela or Colombia.

    By the way there is a study that was done by students of one university, according to which people who know on a high level the language of the country they emigrated report their satisfaction with the emigration process and their overall perspective living in that particular country. You need to know the language of the country where you live, otherwise you're not going to understand the culture of this country on a deep level.
