Across Europe, do the wealthier classes tend to be lighter-haired/eyed than the poorer classes?

Based on Beddoe's observations at least in Victorian Britain the middle and upper classes were found to be lighter pigmented and more rufous than the lower classes:

I am not aware of evidence for a similar trend in a different context.

Beddoe was obviously a charlatan like most ethnologists of that period. English peerage is visibly darker than the avg English population. Just look at the portraits of English monarchs and it's difficult to find blondes.

Having light eyes(blueish) is always a plus and looking gippo or swarthy as gippos a big minus.
