1788, France. "The long term solution that you propose (a Republic) is unrealistic. The ancien regime is here to stay.."
14 July 1789. I think we know what happened.
There was no way in hell that a bunch of desperate Swiss, Greeks, Dutch, Finns or British colonists in North America could take on the Holy Roman Empire, Persians, Spanish, Russians and British army respectively. It wasn't realistic that they would live to tell the tale AND WIN... but guess what: they did both. Mathematically speaking, the Vietnamese and Iraqi's would have been slaughtered by the Americans and the Afghans would have been bombed into submission by the Soviets: guess what... they all sent the invader packing.

In Greece, according to most recent data, three years ago, gun ownership was 23 per 100. It might as well be a lot more because there are a lot of illegal guns in Crete. We truly need proper gun laws here.

I don't think civilians need guns in Europe when there is relative peace. In a critical situation I say its okay. But I really dont want mass shootings every week.

We don't live 18th century anymore. One of the most common critism I have against todays big mouth ''patriots and nationalists'' are their ideas/thoughts (= solutions?) .... as going back to past. ''Hiding into past'' ... I say ... as that won't work! World has changed. To get same (or anywhere nearly something / similar) ... used tools have to fitted present time. Yes, the first one is easy solution (to throw into the air) and being so suits for similar kind of people (simple). You ain't one of those. So try harder.
Today's western sociates (after WWII) exactly bases on many pilars which are totally opposite. Whole our institutions incl. politicians, churches, our values, our morals (right vs wrong), you name it. Even what is being European. Change all those? Good luck for that ....

The world hasn't changed at all. The only thing that has changed is technology. What we are effectively dealing with is a 19th century government system in case you didn't know (the post-1848 world) and the system itself is outdated and will be replaced because it is already collapsing as we speak. The only thing that has changed is that the Left managed to co-opt that 1848 "semi"-democratic (and thus non-democratic) system and uses it against the population. The system is outdated for many reasons but the most important one is literacy: back then the majority could only barely read and right - today much of the population has, at least, received upper high school or even college and university and thus are much more able to be much hands on in regards to politics.

We have legal gun access, just need to have a clean criminal record, hunter's licence or be registred as member of a federated shooting club.

These are rights you have to earn though. Nobody who has power is ever going to relinquish that power. Unless Europeans make their voice heard (not saying through violence) the hands on the reigns will never listen to you. This is a lesson we had to learn through our revolution.
