Corona crisis: should Europe close the borders to British tourists ?

Beaches in the UK were packed yesterday.

Not happy with having the higher number of corona deaths in Europe, taking ages to make the decision to close the pubs, not imposing the mandatory use of mask in public places and with the BLM protests/riots creating a safety and health problem on the streets, these fools crowded the beaches like canned sardines.

With the prospect of the summer season and the opening of borders in Europe in July 1st. The legitimate question is: Are modern day Brits retarded ? Should Europe close the borders to Brit tourists this summer season ?

I know that British tourists are very important for the economy of some southern European regions (for example the region I live), if they are not allowed to travel it will have a massive economic impact but if the health crisis deteriorates and a second confinement is imposed it will be far worse, nothing less than a cataclysm for the economy.

I think each country should do what is best for their public. Here in Australia for example Western Australia has closed its borders to other states. I think now South Australia and Tasmania have opened their borders to us WA, and Tassie and SA. Victoria is the worst state and has had another spike in cases but here in the West it is pretty much back to normal as we hardly had any cases to begin with. Any of our cases have been from people coming in and they are immediately quarantined. So I think countries should close their borders to countries that still have a lot of cases and are not obeying safe distancing rules etc.

China should be held responsible for the crisis that they unleashed upon the world. Of course no one will dare to do this because China is very powerful geopolitically and militarily not to mention, they have a huge population. China should pay the price. Yeah they should be closed until a cure or a vaccine is found.

Australia called for an independent world body to look into the Corona Virus and how it spread. China has taken very badly to this and has stopped some trade with Australia and called them "dogs of the US" etc. They have also cyber attacked Australia.

The vaccine might take a long time, research+testing period is usually several years (7 on average) for any vaccine, the solution might be effective anti-viral drugs etc.

We can't afford to have the borders shut until there's a vaccine, but I partly agree with you, since China created this problem the borders to Chinese people should be closed until there's a vaccine...if they closed permanently until the end of the World it would be even a better solution.

As for Brit tourists, the last thing we need this year is to have the usual hordes of summer hooligans getting drunk on the streets. Many of them obviously don't give a f##* about the virus. Tourism from the most affected countries should be at least highly restricted and health controls at the airports and land borders. Is bad for the economy ? Yes, but another confinement is far worse.
