Default Should non-European regions be abandoned?

Many European nations still have non-European territories for example France has several in French Polynesia, New Caledonia, Mayotte, Reunion, French Guiana, well the U.S has Puerto Rico, Guam, part of the Marshall Islands, the Virgin Islands, and American Samoa. Well Britain also has few ownership of few non European islands like the British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Turks and Cacios islands, St.Helena, etc. As well the Netherlands which owns Aruba, Curaçao
Sint Maarten, most famously Denmark and its holding of Greenland ?

Do you think it’s time to leave these regions or keep them?

Either we have them... or the Chinese will.

Japan has always had its eyes on the Pacific islands. I don’t think the Chinese are interested in expansionism but they might interest in these areas no doubt. The Americans also have been eyeing Greenland for a long time. Denmark so far has refused to give it to the U.S. if the U.S does get its hand on Greenland it will become more powerful geopolitically and it will rule the northern waters and to keep a closer eye on Russia.

Though don’t the European people think these regions are hard on their economies? For example Greenland is subsidies by the Danes, I don’t know about the British or Dutch areas though.

The Chinese are very interested in getting bases close to the American mainland as they seek to expand as well so America should keep the basis in the Pacific, station troops in the Philippines, New Zealand, Singapore and Australia and, since relations are thawing, Vietnam, and maybe get some more basis in the Atlantic and Indian Ocean (also working with India and Sri Lanka) from the Brits. As for the Netherlands Antilles, I think that we should dismantle EVERYTHING that we have built there - particularly industries and monuments and ship them to the Netherlands for rebuilding and selling the place to the United States. What becomes of the population ? That's America's problem. I believe that the only correct approach to China is a very aggressive one. I want to see U.S basis in and around the South China Sea to deny the Chinese a foothold there and a strong American presence in the Indian Ocean and the Pacific to deny them the same. Since this Covid situation, I think it would be a very good idea for the West to be able to choke the life out of China for what they have done by cutting off access to food imports, commercial secrets, Western industry, finance capital, resources and export markets. We should make them shrivel up and wither away. Ceterum censeo Sinensis esse delendam.

Only the people who live there can take such decision and I'm pretty sure they want to stay under european rule for economical reasons mainly

Leave these regions! Europeans or Chinese could invest if they want, but the locals must be independent.

The US should get rid of Puerto Rico. It's only a burden.

I ask myself that question, why don't they do it?
