Cambridge University backs academic who tweeted 'White Lives Don't Matter'

The University of Cambridge has spoken out in support of one of its lecturers who was hit by a wave of abusive messages and death threats for tweeting 'White Lives Don't Matter'.
Dr Priyamvada Gopal, 51, who teaches in the Faculty of English at Churchill College, took to the social media platform on Tuesday evening to write: 'I'll say it again. White Lives Don't Matter. As white lives.'
However the controversial message, which has since been deleted by Twitter, was met with a barrage of outrage, with many people responding both publicly and privately with death threats and racist abuse.
A petition titled 'Fire Cambridge Professor for Racism’ was also launched on the petition site change.org on Wednesday demanding that Dr Gopal be fired by the university for the comment.

As well as sharing some of the worst abuse she has received, Dr Gopal - who is also a journalist and activist - announced that on Wednesday night, the university promoted her to a full Professorship.

Following the torrent of abusive messages, the Russel Group University defended the academic and deplored the attacks she has faced since her tweet.
A statement released by the university read: 'The University defends the right of its academics to express their own lawful opinions, which others might find controversial.'
[It] deplores in the strongest terms abuse and personal attacks. These attacks are totally unacceptable and must cease.'

I dunno, I try to understand the point of view of academicians. For instance, has anyone ever gone down in the history books as a 'white philosopher', a 'white physicist' , or a 'white mathematician' ? As far as I know that is not the case -- it has always been stated such as 'German philosopher', 'English mathematician' and 'Italian physicist' etc... so in that sense white lives don't matter because white people don't technically exist. There has never been a 'white nation' on the face of the planet earth technically if you want to get pedantic about it.

Yeah I agree with the sentiment of the term 'white'. However everything is a black/white dichotomy these days, for example if you're white you've had it easy and are an oppressor, if you're black you have been and are currently being oppressed. I personally don't believe in drawing lines but this is clearly a shot at people of European descent regardless.
If you replace 'white' with 'black' it would become a witch hunt, especially with what is happening in the West right now.

She's an Indian, and judging by her name, I'm also guessing that she's a Hindu as well since many Hindus view British peoples as "muh oppressors and colonizers" that supposedly made India poor and corrupt because they took the nation's wealth for themselves which is a crock of bull right there since India under British rule was much more developed than it is today. Believe me, that's the sort of shit we Arabs also face from them whenever they screech "Reee! you Ayrabs brought Islam by force!" even though the Arab rule of only the Pakistani part of India was very brief and short(during the Ummuyad which existed for only 83 years), and the Islamification of South Asia came from later sources like Arab and Persian Sufi missionaries, or from the Turko-Mongol Muslims like the Mughuls.

To be honest, it is mostly the social, political and maybe economic sciences that are dominated by the Cultural Marxists. Unfortunately those sectors are very influential and it is from those faculties that many people who work in media, politics and economy come from. Thus they have taken the key areas, and since they have been doing this for many decades and are well established it is impossible to dislodge them from Western universities. Maybe in Eastern European countries it is different, but probably they are trying there too.
