Arab Americans aside from those in Democrat cities are generally very wealthy, the Arabs in the conservative areas of San Diego are fairly well off. Kind of weird to see European Arabs vs American Arabs. American Arabs I have met are generally more conservative leaning.

I come from a family of business owners. My dad, my uncles and my cousins on both my mother and father's side are all successful business owners. I got the short end of the stick and am far from successful. I remember when I was a kid in school we were doing a mock election and they asked if I was a Republican or Democrat. So I asked my mother and she said she was a democrat. When I got older I thought about it and it confused me because my parents were always bitching about high taxes. My dad isn't very political but my mom expressed a lot of liberal points of views. My older brother is pretty liberal however my younger brother and I definitely lean to the right.

I've got family in south America and the last time I talked to one of my cousins from Venezuela he said he wished he could come to the US because "capitalism is best." My family down there is supposedly very wealthy. I'm not sure how they manage to maintain their wealth considering the circumstances in Venezuela. My extended family here I'm not sure where they stand politically but I always assumed they leaned more to the left, even though they are fairly religious.

The events these recent times have only enforced my view that multi ethnic or cultural societies won't work. If it wasn't clear before that we "just can't get along" it should be now. For a while it seemed to many that things were going in the right direction, and suddenly identity politics spiked sky high out of no where. And all efforts into making it work has perished. It is at it always have been, a struggle for power and dominance. Each trying to topple the other.

There has been a lot boiling under the surface that is now rearing it's ugly head taking if not all but most by surprise. The guise of the tolerant, diverse society has fallen and now the question remains what is to be done ahead. Obviously not only can't people co-exist, they don't want to. It will be far too cost consuming to try and maintain this much further.
