This is a factor in the whole northern ireland issue, there was migration from britain, scotland and other places to populate parts of ireland and farm as well as displace the catholic population.

I have a belief (50/50) than a distant ancestor migrated to ireland in the 1700s but have not been able to confirm it yet.
