Are the Channel Islands a sore point in French society? Does France look at the Channel Islands the same way Spain looks at Gibraltar?

The Norman influence in the Channel Islands is obvious, the Islands are technically not part of the UK with their own governments, not to mention their incredible wealth given their tax free status. Could France ever consider contesting with the UK over ownership the islands, or would that be a huge mistake on their part?

And, if such a hypothetical war did break out between two of the most powerful nations in Europe (and on earth) over a couple islands in the English Channel, who would win?
