    Default International Relations degree useless?

Is it worth it going to college to study international relations? Or is it a field that will keep growing and progressing well into the future? Share some advice and thoughts

It's useless to be honest, if you or your parents don't know people on "high" places, but it's intresting.

It's a waste of time if you ask me. You're probably going to end up doing something else after graduation.

Personally I wouldn't waste my time with a degree that isn't stem, medicine, law or commerce (from a top 150 uni) but that's just me. Really any degree is better than no degree even if you don't end up working in a field related to your degree it will improve your critical thinking and analytical skills which are beneficial for many jobs. Not to mention it seems like an interesting degree which I could see many people here enjoying a lot.

I agree with this. Although I'd personally exclude law.

Law is a very useful degree. Even if you don't end up working as a lawyer (because positions are competitive) it will teach you a unique set of skills and a certain way of thinking/problem solving. Employers in many non-legal fields value a law degree very much.

I don't doubt it's useful, but I not sure if I'd but it in the same category as stem and medicine. But I see your point.

But what would be your goal? Be a diplomat? Work with logistics? It depends on your goal.

That's because you have view on Law from Balkans perspective. Here, no one gives a shit about laws (but what can you expect from countries which Presidents/PMs are members of Mafia?), so it seems as useless waste of time. In advanced societes, lawyers, judges and other professions in law field are among most respected. Also, Law is most comprehensive science along with Economy (without these two, world would look like a "Wild West"). So I definitely think it deserves to be in same category with aforementioned.

They are respected but it's not a field that has as many career opportunities. Engineers (among other related fields) are on the other hand universally sought after.
