Yes, both philosophy and science deal with general truths but their methods are different. Scientific truths require access to special experiences e.g. a lab to verify it while philosophical truths can be confirmed by the common man.
Philosophy is not useless because it is a logical clarifier of thoughts and it can tell you what is the case or truth of the world.

As someone already alluded to, it's a good pre-law major along with history and poli-sci. It's about developing critical thinking skills.

What makes you think I'm not going to be the one exterminating them? And I'll become a juror.
I'm not good at all at physical sciences. Engineering requires them. And in Greece, you go to a school according to the kind of subjects you've inclined into. The Humanities orientation, which is the one I chose, is centred around the subjects of Essay (which is common for all orientations), Ancient Greek, History and Sociology).

Young people should be educated for those occupations that are in demand in the labor market, and not for those occupations that they like.
If you graduate philosophy, you will eventualy think that you have wasted years, because it will be difficult to find a job in the profession.

To make a university career thinking only about your economic future and the job, is to go against the original spirit for which the universities were created.
Doing so is precisely the reason that there are a lot of university students who have no appreciation for their branch of knowledge, and who practice professions as if they were mercenaries, worse still, without having chosen them for an authentic vocation.
University was to learn knowledge that would open our eyes to the world, and it is sad to see what it has become, a factory of unemployed or mercenaries without passion for knowledge, a necessary anteroom to obtain a job, or a brand of social status given by an universitary academical title.
You will only be really good at, choosing something that you are really passionate about, and if you are good you will be able to find work opportunities for your vocation.
I'd rather prefer earn half, doing something I like, than double earning and do my job without motivation.
Edit: bad english, sorry, I try to correct it.
