I think this question has been posed a quadrillion times on here in total. To most people in everyday life, white equals European descent. There are nuances and there are follow up questions which may be asked, but yeah, that’s the tightest definition there.

It is not really that simple. I had an Italian-American who looked clearly Arab or MENA admixed refer to me as "a white boy like you" which indicates he did not consider himself or society did not consider him to be 'white'. I'm also at least 97% if not 100% NorthWest European.

Northwestern European is exactly what white has repeatedly meant for centuries. And it's validated by its' set of related phenotypes and shared genepool. I looked up those hockey teams and neither are representative of either the British nor the Finnish population as a whole. Finns are for the most part just mildly mongolised Swedes often with wonky face proportions, not like those athletes at all. And England and Switzerland also have some of the highest EEF ancestry in NW Europe, Switzerland being a haven of Old European haplogroups. There's also a significant amount of genetic difference between NW Europeans and Meds that goes beyond immediate physiology.

Again only people on the fringes of the definition of White ever have problems with being white, for obvious reasons, as nobody likes being on the fringe of something.
