Cordoba mosque is important to the muslim world yet today it is a church

The difference is that Cordoba was converted 800 years ago in a theocratic nation. Turkey is supposed to be a modern nation, NATO member and EU candidate. They're free to do what they want in their own country, but this has planted a seed of distrust in Christians who previously didn't even mind Turkey.

The thing is, there’s no difference. Hagia Sophia was converted almost 600 years ago in a theocratic nation, as well. It’s not a church for five, almost six centuries yet it was mosque before being a museum. Now, it has turned into a mosque again, so Christians had to react in 1453, not today if they don’t count museums as sacred spaces.

It’s so silly discussing such a thing in this century, by the way. Religions shouldn’t be objectified that much.

That church in Čačak in Serbia, was built in 12th century as Orthodox church. After Ottomans conquered Serbia, it became mosque in 16th century.
It is not mosque by its early origin, but church, as same as Hagia Sofia.
