In the past century, Turkey used to enter every single international organization, especially those Greece was entering into. After Greece entered the EU in early eighties, Turkey showed its classical reflex to apply for membership too.
However the EU, even before sitting on negotiations table, asked Turkey some initial favors:
1. They ask Turkey to "solve" the Cyprus issue by starting to pull troops out of the island.
That means, give up the whole island to Greeks.
2. They ask Turkey to plead guilty for an alleged so-called Armenian genocide.
That means Turkey to pay indemnities to the state of Armenia under the form of money and lands in Eastern Turkey.
3. They ask Turkey to initiate a peace process with terrorist groups such as the PKK.
That means Turkey to give up further lands in Southeastern Turkey.
4. They ask Turkey to dissolve its Aegean Army which Turkey created out of the NATO umbrella in the 20th century to face Greek challenge in its Western sea.
That means Turkey to enter under full NATO mercy and relinquish its rights in the Aegean Sea to the Hellenic state.
5. They ask Turkey to make an administrative reform and strengthen local authorities, destroying the centralized state managed from Ankara.
That means the utter destruction and fragmentation of Turkey with Rumelian Beylerbeylik (Eastern Thrace State) and other micro state formations in Black Sea, Aegean, Central Anatolia and Mediterranean coastline.
6. They ask Turkey to become entirely liberal democratic nation.
That means the society will be pushed toward fragmentation on socioeconomic, sectarian and ethnic lines.
Expecting for a voluntary suicide is like making fun of human intelligence.
Or maybe they simply want to tell the EU is not for you.
